Lyle W. Brasel was born on March 5, 1948 in Wadena, Minnesota. His parents were the late Walter and Elmie (Olsen) Brasel. Lyle was baptized and confirmed at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills. During High School Lyle was involved in baseball, track and basketball and he lettered in Cross Country. Lyle graduated with the Class of 1966 from the New York Mills High School. He was employed with Boeing in Seattle, Washington. On April 8, 1968, Lyle enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a guard in Germany and Korea.
On August 26, 1972 Lyle was united in marriage to Dolly Bauck. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Sharnel. Lyle was employed at Lund Boats, the Mills Elevator and Tuffy’s until his retirement. Lyle enjoyed farming in Newton Township.
Lyle was a Life Member of the Charles D. Center V.F.W. Post #3289 in New York Mills, Minnesota, where he served as Quarter Master for several years. He also enjoyed deer hunting and softball with the Bluffton Brewers.
On June 1, 2019 Lyle passed away at his home in New York Mills. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Lyle in death were his parents, Walter and Elmie.
Lyle is survived by his daughter, Sharnel (Jake) Bitker of Halstad; grandchildren: Lillian, Elzetta, Sharlet and Adeliza; brother, Lory (Lynn) Brasel of Dayton; nieces: Monica (Josh) Turner and their children, Reagan and Kaitlyn; and Christina Brasel; step-father, Marvin Fiskari of New York Mills; also many special friends and comrades.
