Leroy Edward Aagard was born on July 22, 1941 at home in rural Wadena, Minnesota. His parents were the late Hans and Edria (Porter) Aagard. Leroy graduated from the Wadena High School with the class of 1959. Leroy honorably served his country in the United States Army from August 6, 1959 to July 20, 1962.
On October 26, 1963 Leroy was united in marriage with LaVon Eileen Elmer in St. Paul, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Leroy and LaVon made their home in Minneapolis, Richfield and Eagan, where Leroy was employed with Crown Aluminum and Poly Tech & Strout Plastic. In 1974 they made their home in Wadena where Leroy was employed at the Wadena School District for 30 years as a custodian and building and grounds maintenance, retiring in 2003.
Leroy loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed wood working, fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.
On November 3, 2019, Leroy passed away at his home in Wadena, at the age of 78. He was surrounded by his loving family and the gentle care of Knute Nelson Hospice. Preceding Leroy in death were his parents; brother: Hans Aagard Jr.; 3 nieces; 1 nephew; brothers-in-law: Jon Stordahl and Donald Stemson; and his grandson: Thomas Jonah Aagard.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife, LaVon Aagard of Wadena; daughter, Tana (Russell) Evans of Wadena; 3 sons: Thomas (Kim) Aagard of Wadena; Douglas (Tiffany) Aagard of St. Cloud; Benjamin (Tina) Aagard of Bemidji; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Charlotte Stemson of Wadena and Menetta Stordahl of Northfield; sister-in-law: Ardis Aagard; many other relatives and a host of friends.
