Leon Wiirre

Leon was born to the late Oswald and Elma Elvira (Matson) Wiirre on March 22, 1950 at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. Leon attended the Wadena Vo-Tech School and thrived in the Mechanics program. Leon truly enjoyed the country living around New York Mills and loved to give special gifts to his family, friends and relatives during the holidays. Being a very capable mechanic, Leon was given the nickname, “Tractor Guru” by the many area farmers that hired him.  Leon had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Leon died at the age of 68 years at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, on September 14, 2018. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his many friends, neighbors and family. Leon was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents Oswald and Elma; sister Louise; nephew Donny; and brother-in-law Charles.

Surviving are two daughters: Tammy Prohaski of Owatonna; Jamie LaRue of Park Rapids; three sisters: Lenore Glodowski of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; Sheila Wiirre of Amarillo, Texas; Corinne (Rick) Halladay of Omaha, Nebraska; brother Miles (Kathy) Wiirre of Hewitt; 5 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.
