Karen Ann (Reinert) Butcher was born on September 4, 1952 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Donald and Viola (Dupont) Reinert. Karen grew up in Brooklyn Park, attended St. Raphael’s School until 8th grade and then went on to graduate from Cooper High School in New Hope in 1970. After high school Karen was employed with Ben Franklin.
On October 23, 1976 Karen was united in marriage with Gary Butcher at Saint Raphael Catholic Church in Crystal, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 2 children. Karen and Gary made their home in Girard Township, rural Henning on the Butcher Family Farm. Karen was employed at the Ottertail Nursing Home from 1978 until it’s closing in 2012. She then transferred to the Golden Living Center in Henning and continued her employment until her retirement in 2016.
Karen enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, cooking, watching old movies and shopping. She loved spending time with her grandpups and would always treat them with an ice cream cone.
On June 19, 2018 Karen passed away unexpectedly at her home in Henning, Minnesota at 65 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Donald and Viola.
Karen is survived by her husband, Gary Butcher of Henning; daughter, Jennifer Butcher of Henning; son, Ryan Butcher of Dilworth; grandpups: Daisy, Princess and Milo; 2 sisters: Cheryl (Gregory) Choukalas of Crystal; Patricia (Gregory) Stanek of Ramsey; brother, Robert (Charlene) Reinert of Buffalo; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
