June Margaret Karvonen was born on June 29, 1940, in Wolf Lake Township. She was the daughter of Art & Jennie Karvonen. June lived in Wolf Lake on the family farm and had seven siblings. She attended Wolf Lake Country School, Frazee School and graduated from the Menahga High School in 1958. After graduation, June worked at the Detroit Lakes Hospital as a nurse’s aide. Leaving home, she moved to Arizona where she lived about 2 years in an apartment with a few friends and worked in a fast food restaurant. She then moved to Minneapolis in 1962 where she lived in various apartments.
Her last full-time job was as secretary at ESP Consulting in downtown Minneapolis. She loved to walk to work every day, weather permitting, from her Bryn Mawr home.
With loved ones by her side, June was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the age of 78 years at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents Art & Jennie, brothers Kenneth, Raymond, Norman, James, and sister Mary.
Survivors include her two brothers: Roger (Lucy) of Wolf Lake, MN, David (Gail) of Mohawk, MI, and sister-in-law Charlene (David) Hillstrom of Monticello, MN. She had numerous nieces and nephews, as well as brothers and sisters in faith.
Even though God did not grant June a husband or children, she loved when children were around. They flocked to her side in church. She visited numerous times with other brothers and sisters in faith. June’s faith was very precious to her. She enjoyed listening to church music; the singing soothed her during trying times. She enjoyed helping people and would always lend a helping hand.
During June’s last moments, she was surrounded by her family as they sang the song she composed, “Dear Lord another day has come to end.”
She was loved by all with many friends and was known for her friendly smile and upbeat personality.
