John “Jack” Ronald Burns was born on January 14, 1947 in International Falls, Minnesota. He was raised by his mother,  Elsie (Christopherson) Klein.  Jack attended school in International Falls and then moved to Benson, Minnesota where he preferred to go fishing rather than attend class.  On March 16, 1968 Jack was united in marriage with Sharon Ann Weigel at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with four children.  Jack honorably served in the United States Army from October 25, 1967 to June 1, 1969.  Returning from the service Jack and Sharon made their home in Moorhead where Jack furthered his education at Thermal King School in Wahpeton.  Jack and Sharon made their home in Minneapolis for a short time and then returned to Fargo where he was a diesel mechanic for Cummins and then moved to Great Falls, Montana where Jack was a diesel mechanic for Rice Trucking.  For the next 20 years they made their home in Stockton, California where Jack was employed with Burns Construction.

In 2005 they made their home in Wadena where Jack was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Elmer Goche V.F.W.and the Woodcarvers.  Jack loved to do woodworking in his shop, fish, hunt and garden.  On May 19, 2018 Jack passed away peacefully at his home in Wadena surrounded by his loving family and the gentle care of Knute Nelson Hospice at 71 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Preceding him in death were Jasper “Jack” and Elsie (Christopherson) Klein.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Burns of Wadena; 2 daughters: Mary (Eric) Johnson of Lodi, California and Amy (Donald) Kine of Wadena; 2 sons: John (Mary) Burns of Moorhead and Justin (Diana) Burns of Fargo;  9 grandchildren: Austin, Courtney, Sarah, Mathew, Chloe, Nicholas, Andrew, Joshua and Madden;  2 brothers: Bob (Evie) Burns of Stockton, California and Jim (Judy) Burns of Bloomington;  many other relatives and a multitude of friends.
