James Allen Gustafson was born on October 24, 1938 in International Falls, Minnesota. His parents were the late Clarence and Viola (Mietzel) Gustafson. Jim graduated from the Wadena High School with the class of 1957.
On February 11, 1961 Jim was united in marriage with JoAnn Imdieke in Wadena, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed by three children. Jim was employed for a brief time with Uselman Electric and Reger Sheetmetal. For over 40 years, Jim sold auto parts in Wadena, working for NAPA and Fiskums (Auto Value).
Jim’s favorite times were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with the family fishing trips to Canada. He also enjoyed watching sports, gardening, cooking and bowling. During his younger years, Jim played bass guitar with the local band, ‘The Versatiles’. The band was known to play at area ballrooms. Jim was a member of the Wadena Elks Lodge for 46 years.
On September 19, 2018 Jim passed away at his home in Wadena, Minnesota at 79 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Jim in death were his parents; 2 sisters: Nancy and Sarah; 3 brothers: Donald, William and Gary.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, JoAnn Gustafson of Wadena; 3 children: Jeanne Gustafson of Fergus Falls; Scott (Linda) Gustafson of Wadena; Lisa (Monte) Scheller of Deer Creek; 3 grandchildren: Kayla (Charlie) Melby of Baxter; Tracy Gustafson of Jamestown, ND; Lacie (Keith) Hassa of Villard; 3 great-grandchildren: Felyx, Landon and Jonah; brother, Lindsey (Bonnie) Gustafson; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends
