Gloria Joan (Larson) Perala was born on May 30, 1936 in Wadena, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Leslie and Florence (Kilgas) Larson. Gloria grew up in Perham and Richville and attended the Perham High School.
On March 12, 1955 Gloria was united in marriage with Marvin LeRoy Perala in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with five children. Gloria enjoyed raising her children and was employed at DOW in Fridley, Minnesota for 25 years and Marvin was employed with Grief Brothers Barrel Factory for 32 years.
In 1987 they retired and made their home in New York Mills where they both enjoyed part time employment driving for Mid-State Auto Auction. On January 31, 1994, Marvin passed away peacefully at home.
Gloria enjoyed bowling, reading, board games, puzzles, and playing bingo. And spending time with her grandchildren. And especially her great grandson Easton, who brought a whole new light to her life.
On December 18, 2019 Gloria passed away peacefully at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota at 83 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death were Gloria’s parents, Leslie and Florence; husband, Marvin; son, Doug; stepmother, Verona Larson; siblings: Jerome and Leo; special friend, Phyllis Rothiger.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Joy Perala of Ottertail; 3 sons: Kevin Perala of New York Mills; Jay Perala of Blaine; Jeff Perala of Blaine; 4 grandchildren: Angela, Jeremiah, Jerry, and Lacie; 1 great-grandson, Easton Barnes; many other relatives and a host of friends.
