Eldon Emil Hybl was born on October 27, 1935 in Eagle Bend, Minnesota. His parents were the late Emil and Emma (Cizek) Hybl. Eldon grew up on the family farm in Todd County, rural Browerville. Eldon attended Todd Country School District #132 in Todd County. Eldon honorably served in the United States Army from July 12, 1955 to May 31, 1957.
On September 20, 1957 Eldon was united in marriage to Mary Orr at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children: Bradley, Beverley and Bernard. Eldon was baptized and confirmed on March 29, 1959 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Clarissa. He farmed with his family in rural Browerville, and in 1969 Eldon purchased the family farm where he worked until his retirement in October of 1998.
Eldon was a member of the Eagle Valley Playboys and Ole’s Lil Band where he enjoyed playing the drums. Eldon and Mary were members of St. Matthews Lutheran church in Clarissa before moving to New York Mills in 1998, where they enjoyed visiting and making new friends. Eldon and Mary were employed as custodians at Trinity Lutheran Church since 1999.
Eldon and Mary have resided in Staples, Minnesota since May of 2015. Eldon enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, local baseball games, spending time with his grandsons and watching western movies.
On August 24, 2019 Eldon passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota at 83 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Eldon in death were his parents: Emil and Emma; son-in-law, Larry Paavola; grandson, Ryan Paavola; brother-in-law: Bernard Orr; sister-in-law, Lois Myhre.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Mary of Staples; children: Bradley Hybl of Staples; Beverley (Greg) Mickelson of Perham; Bernard Hybl of Staples; 2 grandchildren: Jeremy Dukowitz and Eric Hybl; sister: Elsie (Elton) Petrie; sisters-in-law: Clara (Jerry) Motl of Staples; Shirley (Arnold) Turner of Clarissa; Jean Henning of Chisago City; Jane Fritz of Mahtomedi; brother-in-law: Roger (Beatrice) Orr of Clairton, Pennsylvania; many other relatives and a host of friends.
