Doug Weller Obituary

Douglas Allen Weller was born on June 25, 1957 to Marjorie Ann (Kowalski) Weller and the late Arnold Joseph Weller.  During high school Doug was employed with Lund Boats.  He graduated from the New York Mills High School with the class of 1976. Doug has resided his entire life on the Weller Family Dairy Farm in Homestead Township.

On November 7, 1981 Doug was united in marriage to Janeen Kristine Keskitalo at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills. He then took over the family operation and had dairy cattle until selling them in 1998 when he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  He continued purchasing hobby animals such as beef, chickens, pigmy goats, pigs to butcher, pheasants, guinea hens.  Doug was employed with Leaf River Ag from 1998-2000 and then ACS plowing cable from 2001-2003.  He returned to Leaf River Ag, retiring due to health conditions on October 13, 2018.

Doug’s grandchildren were very special to him, he adored every moment with them.  He also enjoyed farming, cooking on the grill, smoking deer meat, hunting once in a while, camping and did very well at not recognizing familiar people without their hat on.  He was also a member of the Bluffton Jaycees and NFO.

On the morning of April 1, 2019 Doug passed away peacefully at his home in rural New York Mills at 61 years of age.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Preceding Doug in death was his father, Arnold and brother, Eugene.

Doug is survived by his wife, Janeen Weller of New York Mills; children: Jessica (Bryce) Lofgren of Bluffton; Chad  (Amanda)Weller of New York Mills; Jeramie (Kristen) Weller of Scottsboro, Alabama; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; mother, Marjorie Weller of New York Mills; siblings: Wayne (Deb) Weller of New York Mills; Patty Weller of St. Cloud; Georgia Weller of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mary (Bruce) Johnson of New York Mills; Josie (LeRoy) Smith of New York Mills; Linda (Dan) Meyer of Belgrade; Terry (Jan) Weller of Perham; Leo (Tracy) Weller of New York Mills; Cindy Weller of Fosston; Eddie (Tara) Weller of New York Mills; Connie (Ernie) Kawlewski of New York Mills; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
