Dorothy (Leinen) Wing was born August 16, 1916 in Fulda, Minnesota to the late William and Augusta (Chepa) Leinen. Dorothy attended country school for eight years and attended Fulda High School for two years. On December 1, 1935, Dorothy was united to Lloyd Harold Wing in Worthington, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with five children.
The Wing family farmed in the Brewster area until 1947 when they purchased a farm by Verndale, MN. Lloyd and Dorothy owned and operated a produce store in Hewitt, and Dorothy was also employed at the Hewitt Liquor Store for seventeen years, and later employed for eight years at Homecrest in Wadena.
Dorothy loved summer and winter fishing, spending time at the Wadena V.F.W. playing pull tabs, gardening and making quilts.
On October 22, 2019, Dorothy passed away at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena at 103 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, William and Augusta; husband, Lloyd; siblings: Esther, Jim, Don, Lucille, Roger; infant brother, Joseph; daughter-in-law, Delores Wing and son-in-law, Jerry Wendorf.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Carol “Zuby” (Ken) Jansen of Worthington; Gary Wing of Motley; Judy (Gordon) Prairie of Jerome, Idaho; Julie (Richard) Wambolt of Eagle, Idaho; Patty Wendorf of Wadena; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barb Appel of Heron Lake; many other relatives and a host of friends.
A private burial will be held at Green Lawn Cemetery, Verndale, Minnesota.
