Beverly Bjerketvedt Obituary

Beverly Ann (Albertson) Bjerketvedt was born on October 11, 1927 in Tordenskjold Township, Underwood, Minnesota at her grandparents’ home, Lewis and Martha Albertson.  Bev was the first child of Oliver and Hazel (Bjork) Albertson and was baptized at the Tordenskjold Lutheran Church in October of 1927.  After her father’s death in 1930, her mother married Albin Listrom, who’s name she used.  Bev attended grade school at District #190 in Clitherall and was confirmed at Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church on November 2, 1941 by Reverend J.L. Drage.  She attended high school in Battle Lake and Henning and then worked at Bondy Café and Wastweets Café in Clitherall.

On October 29, 1948 Bev was united in marriage with Howard Bjerketvedt at the Vining Parsonage by Reverend H.E. Oaklund.  Bev and Howard made their home in Inman Township, rural Deer Creek, where they purchased a farm and raised their 3 children.  Bev was employed with the Henning Nursing Home for 27 years as a Nurses Aid, Activity Director, and Rehabilitation Therapist.  In 1994 Bev and Howard sold the farm and moved into Henning.  Howard passed away on February 10, 2006.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church was Bev’s spiritual home. She was involved in Sunday School, Bible School, and Bible Study.  Bev was also a member of the Inman Home Makers Club, Ladies Birthday Club, Senior Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary of Deer Creek, Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary of New York Mills, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Fergus Falls.  Her hobbies included embroidery, flowers, feeding and watching birds.  She loved the Lord and always enjoyed birthday parties with family and friends.

On August 25, 2017, Beverly passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Society in Battle Lake, Minnesota at 89 years of age.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Preceding Bev in death were her parents; husband, Howard; 3 sisters: Louise Nelson, Bernice Herness and Delaine Listrom; brother, Calmer Listrom; stepfathers: Albin Listrom and Otto Listrom.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Vicky (Gary) Housman of Whitehall, Montana; 2 sons: Verdell (Valarie) Bjerketvedt of Willmar and Wayne (Judy) Bjerketvedt of Barnsville;  7 grandchildren:  Jami Housman, Amanda (Luke) Davis, Jacob (Kelsey) Housman, Andrew Housman, Brian (Paula) Bjerketvedt, Sarah (Jake) Vande Hey and Erik (Bre) Bjerketvedt; 8 great-grandchildren:  Simon, Quinn, Leo, William, Brooke, Lydia, Natalie, and Isabelle; 2 sisters: Romayne Schagel of Battle Lake and Selma Alfredson of Fergus Falls;  2 brothers: Marlin (Pat) Listrom of Perham and Delmer (Nancy) Listrom of Alexandria; many other relatives and a host of friends.
