Bernice Geneva (Gaustad) Peyerl was born June 1, 1923 to Helmer and Clara (Braaten) Gaustad on the Gaustad Farm in Vining, MN. She grew up and attended Nubbin Ridge Country School. Bernice was united in marriage to John F. Peyerl on November 14, 1941 and they resided in Henning, MN. In 1951, they bought the family farm near Henning in Elmo Township.
She resided on the family farm until November of 2015, moving at that time to Willow Creek in Henning and then to St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie in January of 2017. Bernice was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, baking, tending her flower gardens and spending time with family at holiday gatherings.
Bernice entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. William’s Living Center at 94 years of age. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents; husband John; brother, Clayton Gaustad; sister, Ardis Fick; and brother, Donald Gaustad.
Survived by her children: Harold (Mary) Peyerl of St. Cloud; Gerald (Diana) Peyerl of Plymouth; LeRoy (Mary) Peyerl of Fargo, ND; Jane Post of Henning; Betty Schwartz of Otsego; Dennis (Nancy) Peyerl of Henning; Duane (Lori) of Harwood, North Dakota; David (Melissa) Peyerl of Sartell, MN; and brother Duane of Breckenridge; 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
