Leo was born on March 21st 1921 in Maine township to Frank and Elizabeth ( Timms) Klinnert. His mother died when Leo was 2 years old and he was raised by his Uncle Charles and Aunt Lena Klinnert on a farm in Otto Township and attended country school nearby.
Deloris was born on July 19th 1923 in rural Detroit Lakes to Alfred and Frances ( Dingman) Bickel. After losing her mother at a young age her Dad remarried her Aunt Rose Dingman. Following graduation from Detroit Lakes high school she worked in Chicago for a few years.
On September 3, 1946 Leo and Deloris were united in marriage at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. Together they raised 8 children on the same farm Leo grew up on in rural New York Mills.
Leo and Deloris operated the family farm and later Leo became an agent for National Farmers Union Insurance and was active on the Otto Township board as treasure for 50 years and Deloris was his personal secretary for both.
Their Faith was very important to them and very involved at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rush Lake. Leo sang in the church choir for over 50 years and he continued to sing for his family and friends until his death. Deloris was active in Christian Mothers and was a sacristan for 18 years.
Deloris loved to garden, bake, and play cards with her children and grandchildren which brought her so much joy!
